Ontario, Liberals new ad

I found on the Transit subway line here in Toronto a new advertisement on the liberal environmental record these past eight years (has it been that long). Among the mentions is the "closing of coal plants" Well the truth is Ontario is still dependent on coal. It in fact gets it's coal from other places. Just read The NOW column it quotes in this advertisement.

So in this excerpt, I believe it's important in testing the credibility of each of these quotes, to see if it is telling the truth. So, I did some digging.

If you look at one side of the brochure, it calls the NDP policy on the environment "OFF TRACK:" NDP Abandons The Environment.

I have not put these in their right order just so you can see the truth. You should take a look.

The brochure says:

(The NDP has) "All but given up on voters who place a premium on green policies" Quoted by Adam Radwanski, Globe & Mail, July 15, 2011.

A closer look reveals that you have to search for this excerpt. I found it on-line. A search for Adam Radwanski in the paper version of it reveals nothing.

"The NDP plan... barely touches on the environment" Globeandmail.com, June 26, 2011

If it was nearly impossible to find the first quote, what are the chances of finding this one? it was quoted on-line nearly one month ago, so how do we find the truth of it?

"the NDP is wandering from it's commitment to equity, environment" NOW Toronto, July 7, 2011

This one was relatively easy to find, on page 15 of the NOW Magazine. This is about the only one that I thought had some credibility to it.

There is also a quote from the David Suzuki Foundation. I looked at the foundation's web site and did not find it, but perhaps I could have searched a little deeper.

On the other side of the advertisement, it certainly shows David Suzuki supporting Dalton McGuinty.

"I'm offering an endorsement of what Mr. McGuinty has done, absolutely. This is a great plan. Any party would be foolish to talk about abandoning it." David Suzuki

He is supporting the liberals, not the NDP, and certainly not a Conservative Government. Yet, when you look at past leaders, you can find former PM Brian Mulroney who was considered the most environmental Prime Minister of all time. Not Jean Chretien or Lester B. Pearson.

I believe it should be noted that Conservatives HAVE a environmental policy. And it's a good one. Stephen Harper believes in saving the environment. So do all of us. But it doesn't include things like Kyoto, or some cap and trade system where we trade credits with other countries.

Let's be realistic. We ALL need to do our part. People, Politicians, you and me need to contribute to save the environment. To save our planet.

About the quotes, I think this is just Dalton McGuinty and the liberals doing everything they can to stay in power. I believe you can find the quotes, but it takes a lot to find them. I don't think they will help him very much.

Take care.
